Case Study

The challenge

In August 2016, Moelis Australia made an investment in Avoka Technologies (Avoka) - a business founded in Australia in 2002 which had developed a suite of leading customer acquisition and on-boarding software tools applicable to a broad, global client base of financial institutions.

We were attracted by Avoka’s innovative technology, founder-led management capability, global client base and quality revenue base. The mature growth stage of the business was consistent with the investment mandate of the Moelis Australia Private Investment Fund.

Over the subsequent two years, with support of the additional capital, Avoka tripled headcount and grew revenue an impressive 2.4 times.

The outcome

In December 2018, Avoka was acquired by Temenos, a global, listed banking software company, with the Avoka platform becoming part of the Temenos product suite. We are proud to have been part of the Avoka journey and to have achieved a return for our investors of three times their August 2016 investment.
